lllumina is a ritual theatre work created by Creative Director Diederik Comte and Writer Daisy Agnes Jones. It unfolds across four transformative acts, though “unfolds” is perhaps too gentle a word for what occurs within it. The piece behaves more like a slow opening within the body, a ceremonial fracture through which something ancient and sleeping begins to breathe again. The audience do not sit outside the performance as witnesses untouched by it; they are drawn quietly into its current through meditation, chanting, whispered incantations and collective presence, until the border between observer and participant begins to thin.

The work moves through the elemental chambers of fire, water, earth and ether, guided by the symbolic architecture of Hermetic mysticism and Gnostic ritual. Each act resembles both dream and initiation: a descent through psychic landscapes where the sacred feminine is not simply represented, but invoked. Bodies mirror one another in precise and fevered choreography; costumes appear less sewn than summoned; the stage shifts like a living altar. Surrealist backdrops loom like memories half-recalled from another life, while scent and sound move invisibly through the audience like unseen liturgies. Throughout the work, hypnotic operatic incantations pulse beneath the scenes, as though the performance itself were attempting to alter the spiritual temperature of the room.
